Level 2 Lesson 3:
The mark of a good Digitizer is clean text. In this lesson, we will apply the theory learned in the previous two lessons, directly to manually digitizing lettering. Understanding how to map/path lettering based on the direction of the text and to join closest point between letters. Manually digitizing text will build a foundation that applies to all the aspects of manually digitizing satin stitch objects.

Meet the instructor
John Deer is one of North Americas leading experts on digitizing and embroidery for the corporate and home marketplace, as well as a 3rd generation embroidery guru. With over 30 years of digitizing experience, John owns and operates the company Adorable Ideas, providing quality embroidery designs and educational products.
Personally, John has won 30 digitizing awards including Impression Magazine 1998 Digitizer, 1998 EMB Grand Champion, and 2001 Stitches Magazines Stitch-Off Grand Prize. John has produced 29 instructional and educational "step-by-step how to" DVDs, which apply to embroidery enthusiasts on all levels. This includes the industry renowned "Digitizing Made Easy" and "MasterWorks" DVD tutorial series. Over the last 10 years John has also written over 50 articles on digitizing and embroidery techniques for Stitches Magazine, EMB Magazine, as as Imprint and Images in North America and Europe. He is also the author of the book "Digitizing Made Easy", published by Krause Publications.
John has given hundreds of workshops and seminars on digitizing, embroidery techniques, and how to make money with embroidery. He has taught at numerous venues including; ISS Shows, DAX Shows, Bobbin World, Imprint Canada, NNEP Shows, Original Sewing & Quilting Expo, Creative Embroidery Conference, Sew-Quilt Festival, Babylock Tech, Sewing & Stitchery Expo, Creative Sewing, and Needlework Festival.
